Mytton Antiques - Jerrard Nares has dated this piece to the 1700s.
The body with two short, and three long graduated drawers, set with well figured vertical veneers, surrounded by counter facing cross banding.
The drawers lined front to back and mounted with brass pear drop handles and bat wing engraved escutcheon plates.
The bottom of the chest with ogee moulding, sitting within a cross banded rebate on the top of the stand.
The stand with an overhanging quarter cut moulding, above a frieze drawer, set as the chest.
The arcaded frieze, with arcading to the returns, standing on barley twist legs with ring turned caps and bases.
The legs united by concave profile flat stretchers, finished with ring turned bun feet.
Original stand and feet.
Thick hand cut veneers.
Requires some restoration, principally some small veneer chips, water staining to legs/ stretchers and good clean.
