A rare and stunning original antique French clock set by the famous maker Japy Freres. It features exquisite champlevé enamel work to both the clock and candelabrum. It is Rococo in design with an elegant waisted, asymmetric case, decorated with flowing scrolls and acanthus. The clock stands on an integral base and the sides are fretted to allow the pendulum to be glimpsed swinging within the case. Candelabra are conforming in style with bases, beautiful enamel urns and surmounted by four lights. The nozzles are also decorated with delicate enamel work.

The dial is also champlevé enamel, the numerals are set on a turquoise ground with a superb floral design to the centre.

The French movement is by Japy Freres and is of high quality. It is in excellent clean and running condition. Pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration and there are no losses. The case has been cleaned and freshly lacquered to preserve the finish. Candelabra are slightly distorted. The enamel is also in excellent condition with no damage. This is a stunning and desirable clock set to add to your collection.
