Antique Furniture Direct has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
To the one side it has a set of four drawers and to the other a set of four dummy drawers, each drawer having a brass lock and turned handles. The desk flap has a lovely green and gold embossed leather insert which opens to reveal a pale interior complete with dummy drawers. The small box section to the top lifts out to reveal a secret compartment.

Good condition, very solid, wear and marks commensurate with age. Lovely warm patination to the walnut. Some pen marks to the interior. The key is for decoration only - does not work in the lock.
