A very well presented and solidly constructed English oak Davenport writing desk c1870.
An attractive tooled and embossed skiver to the lift flap offers a pleasing writing surface. The lid lifts to reveal a fitted interior.
The upper provides a stationary storage section and is excellently presented. The header rail is classically styled with serpentine shape and moulded scroll form.
A quartet of side drawers provide further useful storage. These oak lined drawers benefit from strong dovetailing and original brass handle fittings.
Overall a very desirable example in good order.
