Description

Most of these very decorative postal or letter scales are much smaller, made for a Lady's or Gentleman's desk-top. This is clearly a very important pair, much larger in scale, more for small packaged or book post.

The quality is museum quality, quite exceptional, take a look at the engraving all over including the base, beautifully executed. The set of weights are also engraved. The two pans are inset with panels of Malachite as is the front.

I am surprised such a spectacular pair is unmarked, but they look remarkably like Sampson Mordan scales.

As grand and showy as they come in excellent condition. Impressive in size, measuring 12 1/2" x 7 1/8" and standing 8 1/2" tall.
