This particular piece falls into the sports (specifically Rowing) collectibles having been engraved on the top: "Bath Regatta, 26th July 1888, West of England Challenge Vase, Won by Royal Chester Rowing Club". The front is also engraved with the crew members details: "Crew, F. Morgan (Bow) / 2. J.P. Small / 3. A. Fairrie / E.C. Byrne (Stroke) / J. Huxley (Cox)".
These are perfect on a buffet to serve either hot (with hot water beneath) or cold (with crushed ice below) dishes; a very impressive addition to any occasion.

The underside is marked for the top-notch maker, Martin Hall & Co. who was one of the best known British manufacturers and participated in many international exhibitions including the Crystal Palace 1851 Great Exhibition.
A beautiful dish in excellent condition, measuring 11 1/2" (spanning 14" in total) x 8 1/2" x 8" tall.
