Description

Richard Rees (1900-1970) 'Summer Landscape . Painted 1930-40. Oil On Canvas. 51 x 71 cms Image. Provenance: From the collection of the artist R.J. Lloyd, Devon. Reg Lloyd was born in Hereford in 1926 and lives in Devon. His work is included in the collections of the V&A Museum, National Marittime Museum and Tate Gallery amongst others.

Sir Richard Rees 1900 - 1970, 2nd baronet was a British diplomat, writer and painter. Educated at Eton and Trinity, Cambridge, was an attache at the British Embassy in Berlin and the editor of 'Adelphi' in 1930. He drove ambulances in the Spanish Civil War, and served in the Royal Navy and French Navy in WW2, where he was awarded the Croix de Guerre. He wrote several books, was the literary executor of George Orwell, and exhibited at the Royal Academy.
