Marine Chronometer

1900 - 1920
Description

A fine quality two day marine chronometer by Victor Kullberg retailed by TH Knoblich of Hamburg - numbered 2350 and dates to 1900.

The superb spotted plate fusee movement with Earnshaws detent escapement, with compensation balance and blued steel helical spring.

The silvered and engraved brass dial, signed to the centre, with subsidiary state of wind and seconds zones.

Original gold minute and hour hands, with the original blued steel hands for seconds and wind dials.

The brass bowl set in brass gimbal, mounted in the fine quality original mahogany case, with double hinged lid, with original lock.

Signed ivorine retailers plaque TH Knoblich 2350 to the front middle tier.

Brass Liverpool flush handles to the sides.

Original ratcheted brass tipsy winding key.

This chronometer has been professionally serviced, cleaned and rated by us and is in fantastic showroom condition.

This fine chronometer was made by the eminent chronometer making company of Victor Kullberg, Liverpool Road, London. The chronometer was made for retail by TH Knoblich who's chronometer were supplied by Victor Kullberg. All parts are numbered 6963 for Kullbergs production numbers/records, which dates the chronometer to 1900. The dial and case are numbered 2350 for Knoblichs retail numbers which also dates 1900.

This chronometer is listed in Mercers chronometer makers of the world under TH Knoblich and shows both serial numbers and shows that it was supplied by Victor Kullberg in 1900.

Overall a very fine instrument in wonderful fully serviced condition.
