Chinese Export Campaign Secretaire Chest

Description

A rare Chinese export campaign chest from circa 1830. The well fitted secretaire drawer consisting of 5 drawers and various pigeon holes (some with Chinese characters to the back).The interior door opens to reveal a small cupboard with a drawer. Below the secretaire are 2 short and 2 long drawers with original good quality flush fitting brass handles. Each drawer with black and white horn inlaid stringing and brass escutcheons. The case work possibly Huang Huali with reeded edges around the drawers, base, top and feet and with camphor wood linings. The sides with brass carrying handles. Very good patina and condition with 1 or 2 bumps and bruises associated with age and use. Sizes :- Height...42''...106.5cm. Width...38''...96cm. Depth...19.5''...49.5cm.
