Fowey River Antiques has dated this piece to the 1890s.
J.J.Elliott was a clock maker from 1880 – 1920 with workshops at Percival street Clerkenwell. In 1920 the company was renamed F.W.

The twin fusee movement is a magnificent piece of Victorian engineering of the very highest quality. Fusee clock movements don’t come much better than this with deadbeat escapement and maintaining power. It is also the heaviest bracket clock movement that we have ever encountered and would not be out of place in a church clock tower.

The clock strikes on the hours and the half hours on a tuned gong.
The fiddleback mahogany case has a wonderful rich colour and patina and is in unmarked condition this is complimented by the original silvered dial which is in perfect condition. The clock is finished off with heavy gold plated fittings not the normal polished brass so it will never tarnish or need polishing. No expense has been spared.

The movement has just undergone a full clean and service in our workshops so you can be assured that this clock is in tip top condition and will give trouble free service for many years to come.
This is the without doubt the best Victorian Fusee Bracket clock we have ever encountered and a rare opportunity to own a clock from this period by a premier maker in such incredible condition.
