Antique Furniture Direct has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The fabric is still fairly new, although there a few marks and dark areas to the back (see photo) and some marks to the seat. A stunning statement chair, and quite comfortable it would grace any room.

Good solid condition. Evidence of some old small worm holes to the underside of the legs which have been treated with worm killer as a precaution. Fairly recently re-upholstered although some mark to the seat and dark marked area to the upper back of the upholstery (see photo). Small gaps at the joints either side where the frame meets the base (see photos) slight give, but still structurally very solid.
