Description

A very decorative pair of antique Victorian balloon back chairs in lovely aged walnut. They have sinuously shaped side and back rails and the tops are decorated with carved leaf designs. The central back splats are extensively carved and pierced. they stand on cabriole legs with a curved and bowed front seat rail. The seats have have been newly recovered in a charming sateen fabric with a design of leaves and flowers in cream on a baby blue background. A very attractive pair of high quality chairs with lovely carving and a warm patina to the wood.

Construction/Wood:

Walnut.

Condition Report:

Good condition, very solid, wear and marks commensurate with age. Lovely warm patination to the walnut. Newly recovered with new fabric over the existing horsehair upholstery which is firm and sound and has been recently re-upholstered. A few small worm holes to one of the chairs which has been treated with worm killer as a precaution and filled with wax.
