Marylebone Antiques has dated this piece to the 1860s.
This one has lots of parquetry segments in what looks like walnut although it could be another wood. It also has cross bandings, inlays & other woods laid onto it. The wood has a lovely warm original colour & patina. This commode has fabulous quality gilt bronze handles, mounts, feet & escutcheons. There are locks in all the drawers which also have fine dovetails, but I don't think we have a key. I would date this piece to around the 1860-80 period.
