A Victorian Gilded Cherub Lamp

Description

This is a heavy and beautifully detailed gilded cherub lamp dating from the late Victorian period to early 20thC.

We think it may have been the base of an oil lamp, then converted to electricity at some stage, and recently rewired by us for the UK market.

The pair of cherubs are holding an urn and there is no damage to either figure or the lamp, other than slight wear on the edges of the original black base.

The lamp is a rich golden colour, and the green tinge that appears in the photographs is a result of flash photography and isn't there in reality.

It measures 33cm in height up to the lower edge of the lampshade, and the base measures 20cm in diameter.

We can include the new lampshade in the price if required, and postage and package within the UK is included in the price.

Lancaster Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
