Antique English Silver Plated Cake Basket by Roberts & Belk C.1880

Description

One of the prettiest baskets we have had in a while, we are always on the hunt for exceptional examples like this. The footed basket has a handle which stands alone or folds flat, the basket being intricately pierced or reticulated.

There are engraved panels featuring fruits and flowers and two vacant oval cartouche.

The underside is fully marked for the quality silversmith, Roberts and Belk of Sheffield. Dating to around 1880, this is a true Victorian example in excellent condition. 11 1/2" x 9 1/2" and standing 9" tall to top of handle.
