Rare Antique English Tea Caddy - Figural Embroidered Panels C.1820

Description

An absolutely stunning and rare decorative tea caddy dating to the Regency period, around 1820.

Made from Mahogany, the bottom has a geometric inlaid frieze in Ebony and Boxwood; each of the four glazed panels also has a fine Boxwood and Ebony stringing surrounding the glass.

All of the original embroidered panels have survived beautifully for 200 years, each hand embroidered in silk and incorporating bead work to highlight various areas such as the Squirrel's tail and the basket containing flowers. The front panel features an adorable dog.

A rare find, in excellent condition measuring 6" x 6" x 6 1/2" tall.
