London Fine Antiques has dated this piece to the 1890s.

It will serve wonderfully as a bedroom chair, hallway feature, dining chair or morning room piece.
A well proportioned and classically styled chair with seat upholstered in a top quality damask textile. The seat pad is the 'drop-in' style and therefore recovering would be straightforward should your room design demand so.

The chair is a top quality example with a strong mahogany frame presenting a pleasingly intricate and ornate back-splat with hand carved and wonderfully decorated top rail leading to rather fabulous ears.

Riding upon desirable cabriole front legs with a fully grasping long talon claw and ball foot and stunning carved knee.
To the rear the chair terminates with a semi-pad squared foot. At the front a serpentine rail with moulded edge creates a pleasing aesthetic.

The whole chair benefits from a lightness of tone to the mahogany.
The supportive seat offers a rewarding seating experience with the useful seat height of 46cm (18.1") and a very generous width of 54cm (21.3").

The piece is solid of joint and an ideal chair for daily use.
A versatile, collectible English chair which will make a lovely addition to any location.
