Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the 1800s.
The case is nicely inlaid, with plain stringing to the trunk and chequered inlay around the top, with its pierced pediment and hinged front door. The oval cistern cover is beautifully marquetry inlaid with thistles.

It is very difficult to interpret the surname of the maker (see larger picture of the dial). There is a town called Glasshouse in Yorkshire, though aspects of this barometer suggest a Scottish origin.
