Fine George III Bureau Bookcase

Description

A most impressive and fine quality George III mahogany BUREAU-BOOKCASE in lovely condition and of a particularly good, warm colour.

Below the cornice with its dentil carving, the twin astragal-glazed doors open to reveal adjustable shelves within, whilst the beautifully figured fall below opens to show the finely fitted interior, with pidgeon-holes; carved "curtains"; small drawers and a central cupboard, also beautifully carved, with two "secret" compartments either side.

Further below are four long graduated drawers and it is supported on its original bracket feet. A lovely and useful cabinet. 7ft 4ins tall; 40ins wide (273 x 102cms).
