Jeff Sims Antiques has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
This interesting example is a good collector's piece as it bears a rather unusual hallmark, struck for a short and very specific period. The mark is for 6th July 1797 to 28th May 1798 and is defined by the duty mark (Monarch's head) being in a shaped 'artist palette' border and not the usual oval.

Condition :- Excellent, with no dents or splits.
Hallmarks :- Duty mark, Sterling Lion, date letter. Maker's marks soft but readable.
Maker :- James Beattie.
Bowl width :- 4 cms.
Overall length :- 7.75 cms.
