Fowey River Antiques has dated this piece to the 1880s.
The case is quite extraordinary with a very fine hand painted porcelain dial and porcelain panels depicting heathland birds, quail, snipe, butterflies and flowers, hand applied gilt detailing accentuates this even further - the attention to detail is quite breathtaking.

The gold plating is in superb condition with no wear through whatsoever.
It is extremely rare indeed to find a clock with the case as well as the movement made by this premier maker.
The condition is just superb and of museum quality.

As you would expect from Achille Brocot it has one of the finest French movements that you will find, it is fully marked with the A B in a star the trade mark of Achille Brocot, it is totally original and has just undergone a full and comprehensive restoration and overhaul by Alan Williams of Plymouth Clocks, a Fellow of the British Horological Institute, so is in tip top condition and should give trouble free service for many years to come.

It runs for over 8 days between winding and strikes on the hour and half hour on a gong.
This clock dates from about 1880 and has obviously been highly prized and looked after, the condition is a credit to its previous owners and is the best french clock we have seen for over 10 years.

This is an extremely rare composition from one of histories greatest clockmakers and will be the highlight of anyone's collection.
The clock movement comes with a full 12 month warranty.
