The top with a mother of pearl cartouche (non engraved) and matching escutcheon.

The interior lined in rosewood and retaining its original brass topped ink bottles, pen tray, stamp holder and paper clip container. When the top slope is opened and the right hand side ink bottle is pressed down this releases a secret compartment with 3 rosewood drawers all with turned ivory knobs. The 2nd fall opens to reveal a storage compartment for stationary etc. This superb Victorian box has a replaced hand dyed leather writing surface with gold and blind tooling and has a baised underside to prevent scratching. With original working lock and replaced keys.
