Description

A quality Scottish tapered longcase clock. Choice flame mahogany veneers with carved detailing. A convex trunk door flanked by side columns. A recessed base panel and standing on the original bun feet. Excellent colour and case patina. A circular painted dial with blued steel hands and seconds dial. An 8 day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell.

James Smith of Irvine is recorded in Whytes' 'Scottish Clock and Watchmakers' book as working from 1837-1850.
