Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian furniture from the 1901 to 1910 era is recognised for lighter, more delicate proportions compared to Victorian pieces. It frequently drew inspiration from 18th-century styles like Sheraton and Hepplewhite, featuring dark mahogany, satinwood inlays, classical marquetry, and slender tapered legs.

These desks were predominantly crafted from solid mahogany and mahogany veneers, decorated with fine satinwood or boxwood marquetry. The writing tops were commonly inset with gold-tooled leather, complemented by cast brass drawer pulls and pierced brass top galleries.

Authentic period inlays feature subtle variations in wood grain and hand-cut precision visible under close inspection. Look for classical Neoclassical motifs such as urns, swags, and scrollwork executed in lighter woods flush with the surrounding mahogany surface.

An Edwardian writing desk can serve as a central laptop workspace or decorative console table. Complement the rich mahogany tones by pairing it with neutral wall palettes, clean-lined contemporary task lighting, or modern artwork.

Dust the wood regularly with a soft cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish twice a year to preserve the finish. Keep the leather surface clear of moisture, clean with a slightly damp cloth, and apply specialist leather conditioner to prevent cracking.
