Description

A superb quality satinwood & polychrome decorated Edwardian Period bonheur de jour. Having a rectangular solid satinwood top cross banded in kingwood and with a floral painted border, above two rectangular mahogany lined drawers with brass swan neck handles. The fall front decorated with a Classical scene depicting Putti at play, within a ribbon and swag border. This opens to reveal a well fitting interior retaining the original leather writing surface, above a rectangular mahogany lined frieze drawer. The whole supported on four square tapering legs with brass socket castors, united by shaped stretchers. Further polychrome decoration to the sides and rear of the desk so the desk can be used freestanding. English Circa 1900
