Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1860s.

The box opens to reveal a fitted interior having been re-lined in a hand-marbled paper; the interior of the lid retains it's original silk lining.
The box came to me without a key, it has a tiny escutcheon, I was lucky enough to find a key which doesn't work but small enough to fit and act as a display key, which I finished with a blue tassel.

A few tiny dings to the exterior of the stationery box, insignificant and mentioned purely for accuracy. The box measures 8 1/2" x 4 1/2" and standing 6" tall. The blotter measures 10 3/4" x 8".
