Antique English Mahogany Tea Caddy; Regency C.1820

Description

A fabulous English Regency tea caddy dating to around 1820. A very elegant shape, the top is blessed with a delightful flamed Mahogany panel framed in Boxwood stringing and the edge of the lid is trimmed in Ebony stringing.

The box stands on it's original four elegant brass feet with repousse floral motifs leading down to grand Lion's paws. The brass handles at the side are also original with grand crowned birds.

The box opens to reveal a very glamorous interior, with two lids in Mahogany, Satinwood and Ebony. The interior of the lid is lined in the original leather with classical gold motifs.

Quite superb and in excellent condition. 9" x 5" x 6 1/2" tall.
