Mintons Armorial Porcelain Plates with the Motto 'Nos Aspera Juvant' & the Arms of Lowis of Merchiston

1900 - 1920
Description

Three Mintons Porcelain Plates circa 1920, comprising a dinner plate, soup plate and a side plate, each thickly gilded to the centre with an armorial and the motto "Nos Aspera Juvant" (which translates as difficulties delight us)within cobalt blue and foliate enriched gilt borders.

The reverse with printed Mintons mark and Thos. Goode retailers mark.

The arms and motto are those of the Napier family, Lowis of Merchiston Castle\Tower in Edinburgh, Scotland.

All in excellent condition.
