Quality Leather Writing Box - London England - c1880

A gorgeous leather writing slope of pleasing proportion presented in good condition.

With brass flush fit top handle and original working lock and key.

Certainly a superior example with wonderful detail throughout, gilt embossed with the Royal Letters Patent.

The box opens to reveal a quality interior with twin ivorine writing surfaces.

The main section has a superb 'pop-up' action and rises into place when the original slide catches are moved. This reveal a letter and document upstand, pen tray and inkwell recesses.

Further storage is under the lower slope which benefits from a storage web diamond to the reverse side.

Overall a top quality and attractive original writing box which will be wonderful in any home or collection. Very rare in this style and quality.
