Late Victorian Gas Chandelier with Dragons

19th century
Description

This fine three arm brass chandelier dates from the late 19thC to early 20thC and was originally gas lit.

It is a superb quality item, with three dragons heads holding the original opaque light shades - each one dated 1911 and marked on the edge. The shades are holophane in design with curved petal shape edges, and the three dark metal caps holding them in position are all original.

Three mythological figures feature around the central column with dolphin shaped tails, and the details and quality of the brass work throughout is exceptionally good.

We have recently rewired it for the UK market, and have fixed the three gas taps securely so they no longer move and damage the electrical cable.

This is the first time this item has been available for sale to the public since being installed in a family house many, many years ago. Other wonderful quality lighting from the same house will be put on our site very soon.

The chandelier measures approximately 78cm in length and 65cm in width, and it can be viewed in the Berkshire area. Delivery within easy reach of the M25 possible.
