Description

An exceptional quality rosewood chamfer top Bracket/Table Clock. The Clock case has figured rosewood with brass inset edged corner panels to the front and fish scale sounds fretted sides.

The Clock has a painted eight inch dish dial with the makers name :-

The movement is a five pillar, eight day twin fusee with slow-fast mechanism and pull repeat action which strikes the hours on a bell. The pendulum has top adjustment with a holdfast.

Richard Hornby was born in 1789 and died in 1849. He was a well know watch, clock and chronometer maker. He was a clockmaker to admiralty and it is known that he sold a sextant to Lord Nelson. After his Death his son Gerard took over the business.

The Clock movement has been cleaned and serviced.
