Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the 1800s.
The mahogany case features an integral bracket with carved leaves and scrollwork, whilst the eight-day fusee movement retains its original blued steel hands and eight-inch painted dial within the cast brass bezel and flat glass. Full working order.
This is almost certainly THOMAS JOHNSON of DERBY. who is recorded working there from 1835-1864. See Loomes page 127.
