Fabulous Antique English Tunbridge Ware Box - Basket of Flowers C.1860

Description

Over the years I have had these lovely boxes in Tunbridge Ware, but I have never had one with this wonderful flower basket, most unusual.

The box is created from Rosewood with a large Maple panel to the top, which is where the aforementioned flower basket is inlaid, surrounded with a pretty tessellated tile mosaic geometric design.

The side has an attractive geometric panel running all the way round, and the front with an inlaid escutcheon, which houses the working tasseled key.

The interior has been recently re-lined in a hand marbelled paper creating a lovely clean finish ready for another 150 years of use.

Most unusual, pretty as a picture, a true gem in excellent condition, measuring 9 1/8" x 6" x 2 3/4" high.
