Antique French Burr Walnut & Tulipwood Display Box C.1860 - Brass Inlaid

Description

An unusual and very usable French box dating to around 1860. Made from Burr Walnut, the lid is cross banded in Tulipwood and inlaid with Ebony and Brass stringing.

The display box would make a fabulous case for a special piece of Jewellery or a special keepsake, equally it would make a great desk-top box for stationery. The lid retains it's original piece of bevelled glass.

The box comes complete with a working key, the box opens to reveal a re-lined interior with a hand marbelled paper creating a fresh finish ready for use.

Excellent condition, measuring 8 1/2" square and standing 3 1/2" tall.
