London Fine Antiques has dated this piece to the 1910s.
Of very generous proportion this classic item of furniture presents superbly. The desirable Globe Wernicke brand quality is evident and at over 100 years old the desk is only just beginning it's life.

Rising from hidden castors the bureau shows all of the classic elements of the rolltop style with field panel sides and an eight panel feature back - allowing the bureau to be placed centre of a room, or in front of a window if required.

The practical nature of the desk is demonstrated with the full length side drawers - including a huge lower drawer on one side offering sufficient depth for full size files. Additionally there is a centre drawer above the knee.

The desk benefits from slides at either side which provide extra working space and make a fine place to rest elbows when working at a keyboard.
A tambour top slides to reveal the quality fitted interior. Internally there is sufficient height to accommodate a computer screen or laptop. A myriad of pigeon holes, cubbies, pen-slides and drawers combine to provide excellent storage. Whilst the lock plates are present there are no internals or key.

It is very solidly crafted in wonderfully coloured English oak, has strong dovetails, good craftsmanship and will make a fine addition to any home.
A perfect example of practicality and good design with the benefit of being in top condition throughout and and from a very collectible manufacturer.

Delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
The desk can be fully disassembled so will fit into any door entry.
