Description

Very unusual & fabulous quality antique desk in rosewood with satinwood inlay. I think it may be a colonial piece of furniture made in the 19th century. It has a tooled leather writing surface, seven shaped drawers, all with locks & original handles, plus solid drawer bottoms. This is quite a chunky well constructed desk, with strong tapered legs, brass feet & original white porcelain casters. The back of this piece is polished too. The bold satinwood inlays even applied to the inside of the kneehole section, which is a sure sign of quality. Also the grain of the rosewood is fabulous all over & there are lots of dowels joining it up. It's in good condition throughout, with a great colour & plenty of character.
