London Fine Antiques has dated this piece to the 1750s.
Rising from classic bracket feet the bureau offers four generously sized full width drawers complete with brass swan-neck handles.

The bureau has amazing presence with superior flame mahogany veneer throughout the front and top and a magnificent lightness of tone to the piece.
The fall flap opens to provide a gorgeous writing surface dominated by an inlaid burr walnut oval. This oval design is then cleverly repeated within the fitted area on the front of the centre door - wonderful attention to detail which pervades throughout the interior.

This hugely desirable interior delivers oak lined drawers with further burr walnut to the fronts which are then trimmed with stringing and a cross-banded edge - amazing attention to detail found only where the highest level of craftsmanship has been applied.

Adding to the interest the whole centre section of the bureau conceals hidden reverse fitted slide out secret drawers - yet another unusual sign of quality.
It is solidly crafted throughout, has strong dovetails, wonderful craftsmanship and will make a fine addition to any home.

A perfect example of practicality and stunning design with traditional English craftsmanship delivering a piece which will still be desirable in another two centuries time.
A classic quality English antique bureau with huge charm, history and warmth.
