Anton Mayer - Biedermeier Vienna Regulator

Description

A very fine Biedermeier Grande Sonnerie Viennese Regulator, circa 1850.

The beautifully figured rosewood case inlaid throughout with boxwood stringing, surmounted with a wonderfully carved ebonised pediment with matching carvings to the glazed door sides and base.

The one piece enameled dial with Roman numerals and signed to the dial centre with makers name, the reverse of the dial signed in enamel A M.

The whole dial surrounded by an elegant cast brass and gilded square mask.

The fine quality eight day duration Grande Sonnerie triple train movement of the highest quality striking on two blued steel curled gongs, with deadbeat escapement.

Extremely finely fretted blued steel hands.

Polished brass cased weights, with ornate spoked pulleys.

Polished brass bob pendulum (front and back) with ebonised wooden rod.

A rare clock by a very good maker, in fine original condition.
