Antique English Figural Magnifying Glass - Ivory & Sterling Horse with Glass Eyes - 1908

Description

A magnificent antique English desk-top magnifying glass, originally it would have been a cane or parasol handle, now brought back into use as a fabulous handle for a magnifying glass.

The handle is made from period Ivory, undamaged with a good glossy patina. The horse's head is made from English Sterling silver with a hallmark for London 1908, Edwardian in era. He retains his wonderful two original glass eyes.

The handle joins the glass with a highly decorative sterling ferule. The glass is nickel rimmed and is of course new (by Hilkinson), making it a very usable and undamaged glass with a good magnification.
