Rare Antique French Tulipwood Tea Caddy with Sevres Plaque & Burr Holly Interior C.1850

Description

A really stunning and rare example of a French tea caddy, eight sided both top and bottom with the body of the caddy having rounded ends, beautifully crafted. You can see how beautifully engineered this box is when opened.

Made from highly decorative Tulip Wood with Bronze Dore beaded mounts and lovely cast feet. The slightly domed lid is inset with a stunning hand painted Sevres plaque with a floral motif, finished with gilding.

Dating to the mid nineteenth century, this gem remains in excellent condition. I have included a tasselled key for display only, not working. 7 1/2" x 3 3/4" x 4 3/4" tall.
