Description

Call it an "eye-dazzler" if you like but the "zig-zag" design, I believe, is the symbolic representation of flowing water. Like salt, water is a vital form of sustenance in the daily lives of the nomads. This stunning salt bag, woven by Afshar nomads during the early 20th century, was a container for rock-salt and given to animals during long migrations to prevent dehydration. This bag is in mint condition with original flatwoven back.

Size: 58cm x 46cm (1' 11" x 1' 6").
