Rare George III English Tea Caddy - Clipper Ship, Dated 1807

Description

A wonderful antique nautical or maritime themed tea caddy, made from Mahogany and the lid inlaid with a clipper ship framed with Boxwood and Ebony rope stringing and compass point motif in each corner.

The front of the caddy is inlaid with the date 1807 together with another compass point motif.

The lid opens to reveal a single compartment caddy with Boxwood stringing inlay. The interior of the lid has been re-lined in a hand-marbelled paper. The box comes with a tasselled key for display only, the lock is original but is not in working order. A fabulous and highly collectible gem in excellent condition. 4 1/4" x 4 1/2" x 4 1/4" tall.
