Finest Pair Antique English Reticulated & Hand Engraved Serving Spoons

Description

In all the years I have been in this business, I have never quite seen such a wonderful pair of Edwardian sterling silver serving spoons, quite spectacular.

Each spoon is beautifully shaped, pierced and hand engraved. The bowls bear the full English silver hallmark for Sheffield 1906 together with the makers initials W G & S for the silversmith, William Gallimore & Sons.

These fine spoons were clearly sent to India to be retailed by Peter Orr and Sons, founded in Madras in 1851 by Peter Nicholas Orr, a watchmaker from London.

Together the spoons weigh a combined 72.1 Grams or 2.32 Troy Ounces. Each spoon measures 6 3/4" in length and the original velvet & silk lined presentation box measures 8 1/4" x 4 1/2".
