Antique Pair Edwardian Rosewood Inlaid Chest of Drawers C1900

Superb Pair Antique Edwardian Rosewood Inlaid Chest of Drawers in the manner of Edwards & Roberts and dating from around 1900. Constructed from quality Rosewood each chest has a moulded edge to the top with fine inlaid stringing and a single sunburst to the far corner. This is above four short drawers profusely inlaid with marquetry fruitwoods of tails and flora and all of which are mahogany lined with original gilt brass handles. To each side there are inlaid harebell swags and they stand on a deep plinth base.

These lovely chests match a triple wardrobe and pot cupboard that are also available on our website.

Each chest measures: 30" high x 17" deep x 21" wide

Edwards & Roberts was founded in 1845, and had premises at 21 Wardour Street London. Byt 1892 they occupied more than a dozen buildings in Wardour Street, where they continued to trade until the end of the century. They became one of the leading London cabinet makers and retailers working in a variety of styles, both modern and revivalist. Their business also involved retailing, adapting and restoring the finest antique furniture and there are many examples of their earlier furniture with later embellishments bearing their stamp. Edwards & Roberts specialized in marquetry, inlay and ormolu.

A wonderful pair of chests in quality Rosewood and in very good original condition with a lovely deep colour and patination and oozing all the charm and character of the period. Our furniture is cleaned and polished using traditional waxing methods.
