Antique English Mahogany Travel Chess Set C.1880

Description

It's been a while since I had my last Victorian travel chess set, they're hard to come by in fine condition, this one is and I was delighted to find it.

Made from Mahogany the box is kept closed with a brass catch to the front. The box opens to reveal a board in Beech Wood and Rosewood and a complete Chess set in bone all with their pins intact. There is a removable divider that is needed when closed to keep the chess pieces inside the box.

Excellent condition and dating to around 1800. 5 1/4" x 2 5/8" while closed.
