Antique Furniture Direct has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
It stands on round legs which begin at the top of the stool in circles of oak. The lid has been newly re-upholstered in a heavy chenille fabric in gold and pale blue on a gold background and inside has been relined with a pink real silk fabric.

Solid wood - oak.
Condition Report:
Solid condition. Some wear to the legs. New upholstery. One of the circular top corners is a replacement. New hinges. Marks and some small holes to the interior.
