Rare Antique English Burr Walnut Postal Scale by Sampson Mordan C.1860

Description

An exceptional example of a Sampson Mordan scale, firstly Mordan scales are the creme de la creme and this one tops them all with it's fabulous Burl Walnut shape and beautifully polished brass fittings.

What makes this one really special is the drawer of weights, I have never even seen one of these before let alone owned one. The drawer opens from the front revealing a fully fitted interior containing the original brass weights, each marked.

The balance is engraved, S.Mordan & Co. London, dating to around 1860.

A superb and rare find, in excellent condition. 8" x 5" x 5 3/4" tall.
