Antique Seamans Chest

19th century
Description

A Victorian Seaman's chest which has a brown painted exterior with the initials CW in studs on the dome top. It has a lock cover (but no lock) and a replacement brass drop ring lifting handle and two side carry handles. The interior has been re-papered using 19th century newspaper and then varnished. Would make an ideal toy box, log box or shop display item.

Construction/Wood:

Pine, painted exterior, newspaper lined interior.

Condition Report:

It is in good solid in construction. There are some scuffs and marks commensurate with age. There is a split to the back near the hinges and damage to one of the hinges. The drop handle is a replacement.

Depth: 16.5"

Height to top of Dome: 18"
