Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Hall chairs originated in 18th and 19th-century European residences as functional seating for visitors waiting in reception areas. Designed without upholstery, they were intended for temporary use and frequently showcased family crests or decorative carving on their solid wooden backs.

Victorian hall chairs were predominantly crafted from dense hardwoods such as mahogany, oak, or walnut. They feature solid timber seats and carved backs, often supported by turned front legs and shaped or sabre back legs.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-carved detailing, mortise and tenon joinery, and natural wear patterns on the seat surface. Look for signs of aged mahogany timber, genuine surface patina, and traditional construction beneath the seat frame.

Position a pair symmetrically on either side of an entryway console table, beneath a hanging mirror, or in a wide corridor. Their compact depth makes them suitable accent pieces for narrow spaces without overcrowding the room.

Maintain the finish by dusting regularly with a soft cloth and applying a quality beeswax polish along the wood grain once or twice a year. Keep the chairs away from direct heat sources and high humidity to prevent timber splitting or warping.
