Marylebone Antiques has dated this piece to the 1900s.
Beneath this are drawers on both sides & in the middle is a stunning secretaire compartment. This has a fabulous arrangement of drawers, cupboards, compartments & a tooled leather writing surface. The bottom cupboards have lovely panels & there is a very strong looking plinth at the base. There are also many other features, like brass door beading, top quality brass handles & corbels on the sides. The shelves are adjustable on shark teeth supports. I believe the majority of this bookcase is about 100 years old, or older. It may have been reconstructed from a large antique wardrobe, but it's hard to tell, because whoever did it, done a wonderful job. This piece came out of a private London residence & the previous owners bought it a long time ago.
